Although I’ve never met her, I admire (and am inspired by) artist/mother/illustrator/wife, Cori Dantini. From the moment I bumped into one of her pieces while pouncing on Etsy, I’ve been hooked. Her whimsical and enchanting illustrations fascinate me, and leave me wanting more.I bet if I met her, we’d be friends. Cori writes in a blog interview that she is inspired by “Life. Awkward moments. Social interactions. Sillyness. Treasure! Music. Motion. WORDS.” On her Etsy profile she writes “i love a sharp pencil, and a .005 black pen, i heart walnut ink, and japanese pen tips, OH and a new pad of paper, i love ANYTHING shiny or sparkly, and consider myself to be a bit of a crow in that way.”
Shiny, sparkly…yep, we’d be friends.
When I need inspiration, I sometimes turn to the two Cori Dantini prints hanging in my green room (can you find one hanging in this crazy mess?) They inspire me, and encourage me to tap into the creativity within. I know it’s in there – it just has yet to be unburied. If she can translate her ideas into this extraordinarily detailed and emotional art, maybe I can too? I dunno, but I try, and that’s really all that matters.
Check out Cori's work in her Etsy Shop, Corid. Or, read up on her blog coridantinimakes.blogspot.com. I guarantee you'll get hooked too.
